Start with the original publisher source
Do not rely on a download button alone. Confirm who publishes the app, whether the domain is consistent with that publisher, and whether the same package name appears across official records.
Check the file and your device
Keep Google Play Protect enabled, review requested permissions, compare the reported version and file size, and avoid files that ask you to disable security controls. A checksum can show that two files match, but it does not prove that either file is safe.
Watch for clones
Names, icons and screenshots can be copied. If the developer identity, signing information or domain changes unexpectedly, stop and verify before continuing.
